Storage vessels are used to capture information about Freezers, Fridges, Incubators, cupboards and other places where samples and consumables are stored. Storage vessels are a type of equipment just like a VIA Freeze and they are created in the same way. By default they are represented by an image of a generic large storage dewar but you can specify a custom image to make it easier for users to identify the vessel.
Once a vessel has been defined you will need to add storage units to represent compartments within the vessel. This is done by clicking "Add a new storage unit" as shown below:
In a dewar, a storage unit might be a box in a rack as shown below. For a fridge or incubator it might be a shelf or basket. Enter values in the rows and columns to specify how many slots exist for samples to be stored in this storage unit. For example a 10x10 cryobox has 10 rows and 10 columns. A rack for storing cryobags might have 1 column and 6 rows and so on.
Once a storage vessel and storage units have been defined, you can record the location in which a sample or consumable is stored as shown below:
